balanced worship: the wrath & justice of God?

balanced worship – we’re looking for songs to add to our repertoires that deal with topics that just aren’t written about and sung about much these days. to balance out all the feel good fluffy “God is awesome” stuff that fills our worship CDs and song books.

so!

let’s start here. with the tough stuff. let’s get a song list going of modern p&w that makes reference to the wrath and justice of God.

most know about crowder’s “God of Wrath” … are there any other songs out there?

  1. There’s always the classic…Awesome God by Rich Mullins

  2. God of wrath – crowder

    Holy – Brian Doerksen

    micah 6:8 – charlie hall

    deeper – Israel houghton

    In Christ Alone – getty

  3. Most people totally misapply Mullins “Awesome God”. It is actually not a “happy” song at all, but the chorus plays well in that groove.

  4. ‘O God if Mine’ – by Rita Springer. Good, deep song, about having no idols, and a determination that’s focused on what He’s already done – that’s kinda different today.

  5. ‘To the River’ – Brian Doerksen (maybe just ‘The River’) – a song of repentance and desire to be free from the sin that only God can wash us from. This is song is excellent for communion.

  6. ‘Rest In Your Promise Over Me’ – David Ruis. David’s song is a testimony of resting and trusting in God’s faithfulness in any kind of circumstance.
