Focus Friday – Psalm 122 – 1.25.07

i recently studied this Psalm as it was used in the context of the Psalms of Ascent.  those journeying to Jerusalem for the three feasts would’ve sung this psalm, and those exiles returning to rebuild would’ve sung it as well.

but, we, as modern day pilgrims, also can have a heart of love and joy for God’s presence.

as a part of my personal study, i paraphrased Psalm 122 to reflect some of the energy as well as fatigue i felt as a worship leader journeying back to the House of the Lord sunday after sunday after sunday.

and, now, as we prepare our hearts for another sunday before us, may i challenge you to take a moment and reflect on Psalm 122, making it your own as well.
